What happened

In February 2023 Vanderbilt's Peabody College sent students an email about community and care in the wake of the Michigan State shooting that was generated with ChatGPT and even included a sentence noting it was written by the AI. After students objected to outsourcing a moment of grief to a chatbot, administrators apologized and paused the practice.
